you and me we're in this together now none of them can stop us now we will make it through somehow His dark eyes scanned the sparkling water. Why was he here? After all the years of torture, he had finally escaped. And they were still out there, still looking for him, waiting for him to make a mistake. They wanted him back. He had never even been given a name, but he called himself Fang. And this all happened because he was a shapeshifter. Sighing, he sat himself down on the ground. Where was she? She should have been here by now... What if they caught her and took her back to the lab? you and me even after everything you're the queen and I'm the king nothing else means anything

A red veil flooded her vision, blinding her with a seething hatred for the bloody hands that threatened to pull her back to the prison those disgusting humans called a lab. She struggled, biting and clawing at those limbs the white-coats grabbed at her with. Finally getting free, she took to the sky and flew as fast as she could move her injured wing. It had been snagged by one of the damned human contraptions used for cutting. "Go to hell, you bloody egits," she spat, her thick Irish accent resurfacing. The sparrow hawk cursed and mumbled the lab as it shrank from her vision, and she felt better with every flap of her wings.

Fang looked up in the sky, watching for her. Don't worry, she's probably fine. And then what if she wasn't? He sighed softly. He never would be worrying like this if it was anyone else but her.

Her eyes kept scanning the ground, looking for Fang. Where is he? Raeyn's injured wing was getting close to stiff with the pain, and she kept dropping towards the trees. Good thing she was quick to maneuver. Resting for a few moments on a tree branch, she sped through the foliage, looking for her only friend.

Fang looked around some more, hearing the leaves on a tree rustling. He found the source of the noise and there she was, on a tree branch. She may have been in her bird form but he knew it was her. "Where have you been?"

At the sight of Fang, she felt as if she could collapse with relief. Shifting into her human shape, she put her hands on her hips. "Well, sorry, but last I checked fighting humans as a tiny hawk isn't exactly easy." Her tongue slurred and she sat on the ground, nursing a cut on her arm.

He gave her one of those rare Fang smiles and went to sit beside her, now noticing that she was hurt. "Are you okay?" He tried to keep that look of worry off his face. She was the only thing he had in this world. The only person that mattered to him.

"Don't worry, I'm fine." Raeyn looked at her friend and smiled. "Only a flesh wound, right?" As much as she tried to hide the Irish tracing in her voice, it wouldn't go away. Standing up and ignoring the black shading around her vision, she walked over to the water and put her feet in.

Fang watched her, thinking back to what the scientists had told him before they escaped. He sighed softly, just sitting there, lost in his own world. He wasn't sure he should believe anything those humans had told him, but... He wanted to. And she would never know, not unless he told her of they somehow got captured again.

Collapsing onto the soft grass, she let out a sigh. What now? She thought to herself. "You look like you have more on your mind than me. What's up?" Raeyn commented, noting her friends silence.

Fang just shrugged. "Just thinking about some things they told me.. Back at the lab. Right before we escaped." Please don't ask what they told me. Never in his life could Fang admit the truth: that he had been in love with her for years. He didn't even admit it to himself. And what they told him... He wouldn't admit this either, but it almost made him feel... Happy.

"Ugh," she exhaled, giving a wave of her hand, "Just thinking of that place -and those people- makes me sick. We should just forget them." She almost asked what they had told him, but she decided otherwise. Fang looked like he didn't want her meddling anyway.

"I know we should, but I can't ever forget what they said." He held back a sigh. It wasn't that he was afraid to tell her, he just liked to keep his feelings to himself. Which is why he was often quiet.

Sighing again, Raeyn sat up and looked at her friend. Her only friend. "Okay, tell me. What did they say?"

Fang thought it over for a moment. I won't have to tell her how I feel, he thought. So just tell her what they said. This time a small sigh actually slipped out. He said, "They told me.. That you were constructed to be my perfect other half. And that every part of us... Was made to be together. But, honestly, they could have been lying." He looked at her, waiting.
